Limited Edition Anniversary

Anniversary celebrates 10 years since our first official product review and as it suggests is strictly a limited edition model, of which only ten units will be manufactured, each one numbered accordingly.
Building upon the Reference, the platter is 6mm thicker and the main bearing longer incorporating the new improved bushing. Twin belt drive is used via an improved motor coupled directly to the 22mm solid aluminium top plate. The subchassis arm mounting has been strengthened and the suspension frequency lowered still further.
The suspension housings are rigidly fixed to the top plate, which sits on the integral designed framework and shelves incorporating the split power supplies. The improved Reference SP power supply is split into two separate sections, keeping the DSP electronics and output module away from the large 1KVA mains transformer and associated electronics.
Each power supply is fixed to its 16mm solid aluminium shelf and the top shelf is suitable for our Pulsare phonostage or alternative.
The twelve polished chrome plated segments that make up the supporting framework, each weighing 7kg adds stability to the whole structure and reduces low frequency vibration entering the top plate. Each segment is manufactured from solid steel and solid stainless steel feet can be adjusted for levelling with the tool supplied.
Sound quality is sublime, open, dynamic, vivid, lifelike in presentation, yet delicate and revealing with background and surface noise pushed further into the background than ever before.
Anniversary is to experience the full power of vinyl at its best.

Acutus Reference SP Turntable

The product that launched the AVID brand, over a decade ago, onto the world hi-fi scene was the critically acclaimed Acutus turntable. For the many experts and enthusiasts who have subsequently lived with this turntable, it was the start of a journey to reconnect with their music collection. Time, however, marches onward and a decade is a long time in the life of an engineering company.
It was decided to lift the bar higher still – to apply the accumulated knowledge of a decade of development and lessons learned.
The resulting turntable is now available…the Acutus Reference. The Reference provides not just a subjective but an immediately obvious lowering of the noise floor; extension of both bass and treble responses and a significant dynamic improvement.
The sense of realism needs to be experienced to be appreciated – something which we are happy to arrange for you with our exclusive world wide dealer network.
…So enough puff. What are the actual differences between the Acutus and the Acutus Reference?
The first, and perhaps the most influential, is the power supply. A full 1kVA is on tap. This supply, itself developed over three years is the most stable, linear supply we’ve ever experienced. The Advanced DSP control of the motor power is finely adjustable almost completely eliminating micro-vibrations from the motor unit.
The motor suspension has been fine-tuned and a new twin belt drive system has been employed to aid grip and control. A detailed understanding of the metallurgic requirements of moving components has resulted in the refinement of the bearing system to self-lubricate and spin freely, but eliminate unwanted movement.
The Acutus Reference is a rare jewel of precision engineering. The age old adage of ‘getting what you pay for’ is no more evident than in this superlative turntable.

Acutus SP Turntable
Acutus turntable is radically different from current design theories. Designed from a clean sheet, leaving nothing unexplored or unresolved. Setting a standard of musical reproduction others aspire to achieve. In brief, this is a belt drive, sprung subchassis design and this is where similarity with other designs stops. On first appearance you can see there is something different and you would be right.
Vibration caused by the stylus during playback is transmitted to the subchassis directly through our newly revised unique single point bearing and not absorbed into the platter. This is achieved using a unique matting material and clamping system. External vibrations are isolated by a unique variable frequency suspension system, conveniently adjustable from above.
A purpose designed power supply, incorporating our latest DSP signal generation makes for accurate speed settings. This coupled to a unique hand made motor, 10 times more powerful than normally used, drives a massive 10Kg platter with our new twin belt drive system making for excellent speed stability and sonic pictures of sound.
Stunningly finished in Polished Chrome, this product is the natural choice of equipment for those who demand the best

Sequel SP Turntable
Sequel is so much more than a step-up model from the Volvere. With a touch of high-end engineering finesse, the already robust chassis and structure benefit from a bespoke suspension system, bearing and platter.
Following our policy of continuous improvement, upgrades to power supply and motor which we developed for our Acutus Reference model have also been applied here, using the same principles of DSP signal generation to reduce vibration and allow fine calibration of motor speed.
The twin belt drive and revised bearing makes the improvement in sound quality instantly noticeable over the Volvere.
Additionally our new improved stronger main chassis now integrates the arm cable management.
Building upon the strengths of the standard Volvere model, the presentation is dramatically focussed and paints a vividly realistic image of the recording.
Aside from the superlative audio performance, the Sequel is one of the more aesthetically pleasing models in the world of high-end turntables and a worthy centrepiece for any domestic hi-fi system.

Volvere SP Turntable
Many of the engineering innovations we have pioneered in our flagship, reference models are equally relevant to all our turntables.
Nowhere is this more evident than in the Volvere.
This latest generation incorporates our latest DSP signal-generating power supply, now within its own casework and improved mains transformer, totally removing the vagaries of the mains power signal and allowing precise calibration of motor speed. Introduction of the new twin belt drive system and revised bearing has improved platter dynamics, yet further improving the sound quality.
Conceived as a belt drive, sprung subchassis design, Volvere is designed and built to the same precision engineering standards as the Acutus turntable. Bespoke versions of the unique clamping, stainless steel bearing and suspension systems have been developed and applied to this novel design.
External vibrations are dissipated by the unique AVID variable frequency suspension system, effectively isolating the entire system from extraneous influence – yet without the softening of dynamic response often allied to such systems.
Suspension dynamics are further improved in this latest version with the increased rigidity of the main chassis as well as using revised lateral damping isolation bands and lastly but by no means least, a massive platter.
The result? Vibration caused by the stylus during playback is transmitted to the subchassis directly through the main bearing and not absorbed into the platter. The clarity and depth of the performance under reference listening tests is a testament to the attention to detail bestowed on the design and the manufacture.

Diva II SP Turntable
Whilst Diva II sets the bar undoubtedly high, the Diva II SP edition reveals a genuine insight into the performance standards of high-end audio. Approaching the illustrious Volvere model in absolute terms, this is no mere cosmetic makeover.
Control and precision in reproduction are of the very highest calibre; a benefit derived directly from the engineering effort applied to each and every turntable.
A machined aluminium platter is the first and most obvious step-up; the vibration absorbing properties working symbiotically with the chassis. Combined with our unique, low-density, self-lubricating bearing system, torsional vibration is all but eliminated.
Precision control of turntable speed is achieved with our Digital Signal processing engine. Variations in the mains supplies are ironed out to create a pure and abundant supply of power to the motor. This can be precisely and easily calibrated to achieve perfect platter speeds.
Motor noise, vibration and control are all improved with the twin belt drive controlling platter dynamics and stability under load. The result? A smooth, yet dynamic sound quality, improved bass and treble definition.
Owners of the original Diva II model are welcome to upgrade their system with these additional refinements.

Diva II Turntable
Originally our entry-level model, the Diva II shares the design philosophy and key elements of our more expensive designs. Far from being hamstrung by compromise as many ‘cost-down’ turntables are, Diva II has been engineered holistically – each part designed specifically to contribute to an overall performance which is quite simply remarkable both in value and absolute terms.
The foundation of the Diva II is an ultra rigid, one piece aluminium casting. The arm and platter are mounted to this using a sapphire bearing and tight clamping system. The AVID Diva II’s unique system of mechanical isolation efficiently channels unwanted vibrations away from both the record and platter into this rigid chassis.
Platter construction is MDF, the mat cork composite in common with the both Volvere and Sequel models. The use of this platter coupled with the softer surface material ensures an impedance miss-match with the record and, with the aid of the clamp, reduces unwanted vibrations entering the platter.
Isolating the main chassis is critical to maintain low coloration. We have employed a triple elastomer layer system using an incredibly effective tailored sorbothane compound as used in our Isolating Support Platform, giving optimum mechanical isolation of the playing surface, resulting in better information retrieval and resolution.
Although rare in affordable turntables, the benefits of an external power supply are hard to deny. We have equipped the Diva II with a purposed designed mains transformer and electronics to construct a supremely smooth and consistent rotational force. Feeding a powerful motor the resulting stability and the huge dynamic sound is instantly recognisable as AVID.

Ingenium Turntable
Since their introduction, our award winning Diva turntables have been the benchmark for entry level turntables. With the increased popularity of vinyl reproduction, but the ever increasing costs of production, the Diva for many has become an entry level aspiration.
Despite requests for lesser cost models and a product which offers the options which embodied the Diva Mk1, we have resisted lowering our philosophical and engineering standards to join the ranks of inexpensive rectangular plastic or wooden 'turntables' a plenty around the world.
Ingenium shares the design philosophy of our more expensive designs, has true engineered audiophile quality, utilises key elements of the Diva II and has an exposed minimal design that achieves new standards of style and excellence.
AVID's unique sapphire bearing and platter has been retained from the Diva II, with the option of using our unique clamping system, which efficiently channels unwanted vibrations away from both the record and platter. The main chassis to which the bearing and arm are rigidly coupled is machined from two and a half inch solid aluminium and allows us to offer different arm fitting options.
Ingenium's basic package comes complete with a high quality carbon fibre tonearm. Optional models offer standard 9" SME fitting, 12" SME fitting and also twin arm options of two 9" SME or one of each 9" and 12" SME fitting. Other combinations and arm fitting are available upon request.
In common with our other designs, isolating the main chassis is critical to maintain low coloration. We have employed the same optimised elastomer used in the Diva II giving excellent mechanical isolation of the playing surface, resulting in better information retrieval and resolution.
Using a mains powered version of the powerful motor employed in the Diva II and encapsulated within a bespoke housing to eliminate motor vibration entering the turntable, the resulting stability and the huge dynamic sound is instantly recognisable as AVID.
Ingenium offers more people the chance of opening a window to quality audiophile vinyl reproduction, with the opportunity to use today's wide variety of available pick up arms, without feeling its "just another turntable". It's reassuringly an AVID turntable through and through....

Electronics
Pulsare II Phono Stage
AVID's Pulsare II phono stage. 'The difference between simply listening to music and experiencing it.'
This was our design goal, because over the years, the many phono stages we have listened too, whilst offering excellent technical performance, lacked that something that makes the music sound and feel real. We call it 'shear power'. Its that feeling of presence, solidity and drive that separates just listening to a HiFi system with the feeling of being in the presence of the performance.
Logically manufacturing turntables that already create that feeling, turntables with exceptionally low background noise and impressive isolation to prevent distortion, we wanted to create a phono stage that embodied these qualities.
Designed from first principles, Pulsare II is fully balanced throughout, keeping noise exceptionally low. Distortion across the audio spectrum is very low and with an impressive headroom, there's never a feeling of 'running out of steam'.
Employing extremely high-specification components, every attribute is of the highest order. At no point, in the circuit is signal integrity compromised, using a bank of relays for every adjustment. Inputs and outputs are both XLR and RCA, and whilst running fully balanced internally, the output is optionally balanced or unbalanced. Gain, resistance and capacitance are all easily adjustable from the front panel and offer exceptional flexibility.
Following our policy of continuous improvement, Pulsare II introduces additional features. A mono facility, subsonic filter and a custom resistance setting, giving the option to precisely tailor resistance values to any given cartridge. Achieved by adding internal RCA plugs fitted with resistor values as required to alter the 47k loading to the desired value.
A passive RIAA (with Neumann HF correction) circuit using high-end capacitors, helps maintain linearity of reproduction; and an external double regulated 300va power supply provides nothing short of prodigious power to each channel separately.
Passionately manufactured within our own facilities, everything from PCB assembly, testing and quality control to the high quality casework ensures a long lasting reliable product, allowing you to not just listen, but experience the full potential that vinyl replay has to offer.
Put bluntly, this is a ground-up revolutionary design which communicates honestly and embraces dynamic attack with aplomb.
Pulsare II is when listening becomes an experience.

Pellere Phono Stage
The Pellere mirrors the design innovation pioneered in the flagship Pulsare phonostage and bridges the gap to the Pulsus phonostage.
Like the Pulsare the Pellere is fully balanced throughout and retains the same internal high specification components, keeping noise and distortion exceptionally low across the audio spectrum and with the same impressive headroom, there's the same feeling of never 'running out of steam'.
Whilst inputs and outputs remain both XLR and RCA, Gain, Resistance and Capacitance are all easily adjustable using high quality switches from the base panel and offer exceptional flexibility.
A passive RIAA (with Neumann HF correction) circuit using high-end capacitors, helps maintain linearity of reproduction; and an external regulated 300va power supply provides nothing short of prodigious power to each channel separately.
Passionately manufactured within our own facilities, everything from PCB assembly, testing and quality control to the high quality casework ensures a long lasting reliable product, allowing you to not just listen, but experience the full potential that vinyl replay has to offer.

Pulsus Phono Stage
AVID's Pulsare established a new benchmark in sound quality that a phonostage can achieve.
Pulsus embodies the experience gained during the development of the Pulsare to design this high quality but economically priced phonostage. Many of the Pulsare's features have been retained such as the switchable flexibility and separate power supply.
Again designed from first principles, Pulsus is an un-balanced design, but still keeping noise exceptionally low. Distortion across the audio spectrum is exceptionally very low and with impressive headroom, a character common to all our electronic designs.
Pulsus employs extremely high-specification components for its retail cost. Inputs and outputs are both gold-plated RCA. Gain, resistance and capacitance are all easily adjustable from the underside of the casework and offer exceptional flexibility and ease of use.
A passive RIAA (with Neumann HF correction) circuit using high-end capacitors, helps maintain linearity of reproduction; and an external regulated power supply provides refined smooth power to maintain its poise.
Passionately manufactured within our own facilities, everything from PCB assembly, testing and quality control to the high quality casework ensures a long lasting reliable product, all at a very affordable price.

Pellar Phono Stage
AVID's Pulsare and Pulsus phonostages have established high regard with customers and press alike.
Directly related to the Pulsus the Pellar brings the possiblity of owning an AVID phonostage to a new entry level price point. Unusual at this price level, there are three gain options for MM, low and high gain MC cartridge types.
As with its bigger relation this is an un-balanced design, but still keeping noise exceptionally low, even with an intergated power supply. Distortion across the audio spectrum is exceptionally low and with impressive headroom, a character common to all our electronic designs.
Pellar retains the high-specification components of the Pulsus, including the gold-plated RCA connections and with the gain settings still easily adjustable from the underside of the casework.
Cartridge resistance value is set to 47k, suitable for MM cartridges. There are additional RCA connections on the rear panel to allow customised restistance loading plugs to be used, so that any restance value can be set for any cartridge. This offers exceptional flexibility and precision.
The passive RIAA (with Neumann HF correction) circuit using high-end capacitors is retained, helping maintain linearity of reproduction. The new internal regulated power supply provides refined smooth power to maintain its poise.
In keeping with our high standards, the Pellar is completely manufactured within our own facility. Everything from PCB assembly, testing and quality control to the high quality casework ensures a desirable sounding product with exceptional value.

Cables
SCT - black reference interconnect
Designed without compromise, these cables achieve a wide bandwidth, seamless neutrality, fast dynamics and highly detailed resolution with an open and deep natural sound stage.
Using a full metal jacket screen, these interconnects offer 99%+ RFI rejection making for exceptional quite backgrounds.
Cable design has complexities like other audio equipment.
Maintaining a logical approach, taking nothing for granted has produced an outstanding result.
Suitable for analogue and digital products alike, available balanced and RCA formats, feedback from customers and press suggests that it makes a significant upgrade to systems of all budgets, allowing existing equipment to reach their full potential rather than restrict performance.
As with any equipment we suggest experimenting with your existing system, possibly in conjunction with our speaker cables to confirm their suitability.
We think you'll be pleased with the result

ASC - reference speaker cable
Manufactured at our facility in Huntingdon, these fully screened speaker cables achieve a wide bandwidth, seamless neutrality, fast dynamics and highly detailed resolution with an open and deep natural sound stage.
These cables are multi conductor gold plated copper, each conductor isolated within an air spaced dielectric and each positive and negative conductor fully screened against the effects of RFI present in the atmosphere.
Available in either single or bi-wire formats, terminations with the highest quality locking banana or spade connections these cables will open your eyes and ears to what your system is truly capable of. Each cable set has our special earth block fitted which enables grounding into an independent earth, improving the sonic quality of the cable, especially in the low bass region.
Like always cables are system dependant, however we have not doubt that these will impress even the most discerning audiophile.

ASC - reference earth connection
A unique feature of our speaker cables is the addition of an independent earth connection.
Each conductor is fully screened against interference from RFI and other radiated fields, which adversely effects sound quality. Earthing the screen into an external point, such as the electrical mains earth, improves this function and sonic benefits include extended and detailed bass response with improved clarity in the treble.
Interference emitted by other audio and visual equipment in close proximity produces background noise, which is picked up by cables. The earthing configuration further reduces this interference over normal screening, leaving 'inky black' backgrounds on quite passages and a better sense of space around instruments and singers. A special mains earthing plug is supplied with our cable sets for this purpose and can be used for either single or bi-wire configurations.
